Mark Twain Presentation – Thursday, September 10, 2009 Francis M. Coan is an associate professor of history and chairman of the Social Sciences department at Tunxis Community College. He holds a B.A. in geography from Central Connecticut State University and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Connecticut. He has taught at Tunxis since 1991 and is particularly interested in military history. He is a life-long resident of Bristol where he lives with his wife, Sally, and their cat, Sylvester Borealis Magnus. Lynn L. Laskowski is a professor of biology in the Math and Science department at Tunxis Community College . She earned a B.S. in biology from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. She then went on to Yale University and earned a M.P.H. with a concentration in health service administration. After college, she worked in dental research at the UCONN Health Center and following graduate school she worked in a variety of healthcare consulting firms, such as Oberfest Associates located in Philadelphia. Besides teaching at Tunxis, she is presently working with Carrier Associates on a Green Technology project and she is a member of the Tunxis Foundation. She resides in Bristol with her husband, David Opalenik.
